Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most popular wildlife destination, covering an expansive 794 square miles. Renowned for its diverse ecosystems, the park features sprawling savanna, lush humid forests, sparkling lakes, and pristine wetlands. It’s home to an incredible range of wildlife, including the famous tree-climbing lions, hippos, warthogs, Nile crocodiles, buffaloes, Uganda kob, and elephants. Bird lovers will be thrilled to discover the park is home to over 500 species of birds. In addition to its rich wildlife, the park also boasts striking volcanic features, including volcanic cones and crater lakes, making it a truly unique destination for nature enthusiasts.

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth & Evening Game Drive

 

Morning:

  • After breakfast, meet your driver-guide and begin your scenic journey to southwestern Uganda.

  • Stop at the Equator in Kayabwe for photos and a brief demonstration of the Coriolis effect.

Afternoon:

  • Continue your journey with a lunch break in Mbarara Town.

  • Arrive at Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most biodiverse park, known for its dramatic scenery and rich wildlife.

Evening:

  • Head out for your first game drive, spotting wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and possibly the elusive leopard.

  • Check in at Mweya Safari Lodge or similar accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Wildlife Safari & Kazinga Channel Cruise

Morning:

  • Set off early for a sunrise game drive in the Kasenyi plains, known for its lion population and excellent viewing of Uganda kob, warthogs, and hyenas.

Afternoon:

  • After lunch, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a haven for hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, and an astonishing variety of birds.

  • This two-hour cruise offers great photography opportunities and close-up views of animals along the shoreline.

Evening:

  • Return to your lodge for a relaxing evening, with dinner overlooking the water or savannah.

 

Day 3: Return to Kampala or Entebbe

Morning:

  • Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and check out. Begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe.

Afternoon:

  • Stop en route for lunch and optional souvenir shopping.

Evening:

  • Drop-off at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight.
